Shared by Galam, this announcement marks a "significant step forward" in the company's commitment to revolutionising the sugar reduction for global consumers

Construction has begun on Galam's second GOFOS (short chain fructo-oligosaccharides) plant.

This momentous occasion marks a significant step forward in Galam's commitment to revolutionising the sugar reduction, fibre enrichment and prebiotic industries, providing healthier alternatives for consumers globally, making Galam the largest sc-FOS manufacturer worldwide.

GOFOS, has gained widespread recognition for its exceptional properties and its ability to transform the food and nutraceutical landscapes. With a short chain structure and similar organoleptic properties to sugar, GOFOS offers a unique solution to reducing sugar content in various products while maintaining taste and texture. Additionally, its properties make it an efficient prebiotic, contributing to gut health and overall well-being.

GOFOS has proven remarkable results in different applications within the food ingredients, nutraceutical and pet industries -such as dairy products, gummies for nutra, ice cream, bakery products and more.

One of the key challenges in the sugar reduction world has been finding alternatives that not only replicate the sweetness of sugar but also mask any aftertaste that may result from the use of artificial sweeteners. GOFOS has proven to be a game-changer in this regard, as its short chain characteristics enable it to deliver a more natural taste experience, minimising any undesirable flavours associated with other sweeteners.

Moreover, GOFOS serves as an excellent source of dietary fibre enrichment. Its prebiotic properties make it a valuable addition to various food and nutraceutical products, promoting the growth of beneficial gut bacteria and supporting digestive health.

GOFOS's success can be attributed to its ability to enhance the sweetness profile of products, making it an ideal ingredient for a wide range of applications. By utilising GOFOS, food and nutraceutical manufacturers can reduce sugar content, create sugar-free products, and still deliver exceptional taste, satisfying even the most discerning palates.

The second GOFOS plant, currently under construction, will significantly increase Galam's production capacity, allowing for greater accessibility to this groundbreaking ingredient. With this expansion, Galam aims to meet the ever-growing demand for healthier alternatives in the food and beverage industry, focusing on the rising consumer preference for reduced-sugar options and enhanced fiber content without compromising on taste.

"We are thrilled to announce the construction of our second GOFOS plant," said Itay Vilder, Global VP Sales at Galam. "GOFOS has demonstrated unique potential in the sugar reduction fiber enrichment and prebiotic arenas, empowering food, and nutraceutical manufacturers to address multiple nutritional concerns. This new plant will enable us to fulfill the increasing demand for GOFOS and contribute to a healthier future for consumers worldwide."

Galam's commitment to innovation and sustainability is reflected in the construction of the second GOFOS plant, which incorporates state-of-the-art technology and environmentally friendly practices. The company remains dedicated to advancing research and development efforts, continuously improving upon its offerings, and promoting healthier choices that benefit both individuals and the planet.
