Ganeden continues probiotic research with release of 24th published study and new findings

Ganeden, known as a leading ingredient supplier in the probiotic space, continues to be on the forefront of probiotic research with the announcement of its 24th peer-reviewed and published study, along with new findings.

The studies show that Ganeden's patented and science-backed probiotic strain, GanedenBC30 (Bacillus coagulans GBI-30, 6086), supports the body's utilisation of protein and also enhances vitamin and mineral absorption. These findings confirm GanedenBC30's benefits in a variety of functional food and beverage categories, including sports nutrition and meal replacements.

Published study: protein utilisation

As previously publicised, in a study conducted by the University of Tampa and Increnovo, it was found that GanedenBC30 supports protein utilisation as measured by a reduction of muscle soreness and increased perceived recovery.

GanedenBC30 with just 20g of protein was able to protect the muscle from damage as shown by perceptual measures and blood work, resulting in improvement in five protein utilisation endpoints: decreased recovery time, decreased soreness, reduced swelling, increased power and decreased blood kinase.

The study, which was run by the facilities of Dr Jacob Wilson and managed by Dr Ralf Jäger, is the first study of a probiotic showing ergogenic effects in athletes, with results benefiting the sports nutrition and protein functional food and beverage categories. The study has been peer-reviewed and published in the PeerJ journal.

Initial findings: vitamin and mineral absorption

An independent study demonstrated that consuming 1 billion CFU of GanedenBC30 enhances the utilisation of vitamins and minerals, including calcium, iron, vitamin B2, vitamin B5 and vitamin B12. It also further supports protein absorption and digestive health data. Additional details and information will follow as Ganeden delves deeper into the results.

'We put an extensive amount of focus on the research and science behind our probiotic ingredients and since probiotic benefits are strain specific, we take pride in the impressive results that GanedenBC30 shows consistently in these studies,' said Mike Bush, President of Ganeden and executive board president of the International Probiotics Association. 'Our goal is to provide a high quality and science-backed strain for our customers to formulate with, and we will continue providing research that helps solidify Ganeden as a probiotic leader.'
