Sessions will be separated into three broad topics: money, the law and the science of traditional disciplines

The American Herbal Products Association (AHPA), the national trade association for the herbal industry, will present a Congress on Immune Supplements on Friday, October 29, 2021 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. The event, which will follow SupplySide West, will be in-person with a virtual option.

Sessions will be separated into three broad topics: money, the law and the science of traditional disciplines. The money sessions will cover topics including the impact of COVID on immune product sales and global supply chain factors impacting US supply. During the supply chain session, there will be a panel discussion on logistical barriers to obtaining materials, COVID issues affecting labour, difficulty obtaining components and other challenges the industry faces.

The legal sessions will address the lawful labelling and marketing of claims for immune support and, in a panel discussion, the substantiation of those claims. This presentation will help attendees understand effective methods for substantiating immune support claims to minimise enforcement and litigation risks.

During the panel discussion, panelists will identify ways to ensure marketing claims for herbal immune support products are substantiated, truthful and not misleading. Industry experts will review several methods they’ve used to ensure their dietary supplement product claims are well substantiated.

In the sessions regarding the science of traditional disciplines, attendees will learn about case studies on ashwaganha and mushrooms, identifying adulteration concerns, defining quality control and exploring the findings.

Another session will explore traditional disciplines including Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine, North American Indigenous, and Urban Black Herbalists, examining each discipline’s philosophy of the immune system.

The in-person session will begin with a continental breakfast and include several networking opportunities throughout the day.
