Alpinamed adds images of nature to tubes for ointments and gels

Using flexo printing by Neopac

Alpinamed, a Swiss manufacturer of herbal medicinal products and dietary supplements, is using a new decorative process for labelling its tubes.

Flexo printing has been used to produce a pictorial and precise image that is almost like a photo.

Various images of nature, such as flowers or medicinal plants, now adorn Alpinamed tubes used for its ointments and gels. The white Polyfoil tube has been kept simple, with the lettering screenprinted in colour on the image.

The new printing process has simplified things considerably for the Freidorf-based company. Previously labels had to be printed and then stuck onto the blank tube; they are now supplied by metal and plastic packaging manufacturer Neopac, finished and fully printed.

Lydia Wagner, Head of Procurement at Alpinamed, said: 'The tubes look higher quality than before and the feedback from our customers is entirely positive. We are delighted by the all-round successful tube.'

At Neopac flexo printing is done on five-colour printing unit for CMYK and a special colour. The same machine also has six inking units for screenprinting. In a single print run, a total of seven colours in any combination of flexo and screenprinting can be applied.

Alpinamed was founded in 1983 and since 2000 has been owned by the Austrian Gebro Pharma Group.
