AstaPure astaxanthin approved by Anvisa Brazil

Algatech eyes Brazil market

Algatech (Algatechnologies) Ltd received Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (Anvisa) approval for its all-natural astaxanthin AstaPure to be used as a food ingredient. Approval was granted thanks to the high quality and purity of this powerful product.

This approval makes Algatech the first astaxanthin supplier to start marketing its clean label astaxanthin under the AstaPure brand in Brazil.

AstaPure is sourced from the Haematococcus pluvialis microalgae, cultivated in a proprietary fully controlled closed system of glass photobioreactors energized by the abundant natural sunlight of the Arava desert.

Brazil has the largest nutritional and supplements market in South America. According to Euromonitor, vitamins and dietary supplements recorded a sales total of $1.3 billion in 2015 in Brazil, an 11% increase compared with the previous year.

The market shows no signs of slowing down, owing to a growing and increasingly health conscious middle-class. Brazil is poised to take the next step in becoming a global powerhouse with exciting potential.

“Brazil holds the leading supplement market in South America, and we strongly believe this approval will create further possibilities in the region,” says Gary Brenner, Project Development Manager for Algatech.

“Collaborating with our distributor Ayalla, Sao Paulo, we aim to increase our sales and promote our products in co-operation with the leading brand customers in the food, cosmetics and dietary supplements segments."

“Ayalla prides itself in marketing only the highest quality natural nutrients to our Brazilian customers,” notes Sandra Ayala de Anselmo, President of marketing for Ayalla. “For two generations, our family has maintained a strong commitment to these standards. Many of our strategic customers already know AstaPure astaxanthin, and we are excited to now realize our investment with the help of Algatech.”

“Microalgae is expected to be one of the most important nutrition source of the 21st century. We are proud to be among just a few companies internationally that have cracked the code for commercial-scale production of natural microalgae, at the highest standards,” says Hagai Stadler, CEO of Algatech.

“We are pleased to bring the Algatech product line to Brazil, and to be able to provide for the first time in Brazil all-natural astaxanthin AstaPure.”

Algatech is a leading manufacturer and supplier of innovative algae-based products cultivated using state-of-the-art technologies. The company is located in Israel’s Arava desert, between the Dead Sea and the Red Sea, an optimal location for microalgae cultivation.
