DSM brings the next level of customisation to CPhI 2016

Company continues to innovate and provide manufacturers with the versatility to create tailor-made EPA/DHA products

DSM Nutritional Products is building on its existing customisation capabilities, with the introduction of its next generation 3C technology for omega-3 EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) at this year’s CPhI.

The unique 3C technology delivers highly concentrated (up to 85%) and customisable combinations of EPA and DHA for both pharmaceutical and food supplement applications, while also providing peace of mind through a consistent supply chain.

With this new launch, DSM continues to innovate and provide manufacturers with the versatility to create tailor-made, targeted EPA/DHA products that connect with consumers and patients throughout life.

Additionally, DSM is the only company with CEPs for all vitamins and is continuously expanding its global reach, now offering Drug Master Files also for the US. With a range of API-certified products for the pharmaceutical industry, DSM helps its customers gain a competitive edge by accelerating the registration process to get products to market faster. It brings full regulatory, scientific and quality expertise, to provide customised support on projects from a very early stage in the development pipeline.

Visitors to stand 3S10 can discover the omega-3 EPA/DHA status in individual countries following the publication of a paper, co-authored by DSM, highlighting that adults in most regions of the world have low omega-3 levels.

This is associated with high risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) with a separate report concluding that an increased use of omega-3 supplements in the European Union has the potential to prevent 1.5 million cases of CVD in people older than 55 in just 5 years and save €64.5 billion in healthcare costs.

Prototypes will be available to demonstrate how the high EPA/DHA concentrations offered by 3C technology make it possible to achieve a much smaller capsule size. This will appeal to consumers who have previously been discouraged by the traditionally larger size of omega-3 capsules.

Delegates can end the day at CPhI by joining DSM for its happy hour on stand from 16:00, taking place on both Tuesday 4 October and Wednesday 5 October.
