Company will showcase a new line of very high concentrate fish and algal oil and highlight its custom nutrient premix service

DSM Nutritional Products, a leading provider of nutritional solutions worldwide, will unveil its next generation customisation capabilities at this year’s SupplySide West.

Visitors are invited to booth 2320 to discover how DSM can help to create highly targeted, value added, customised nutritional solutions that accelerate product development, set its customers apart from and ahead of competition and help them get to the market faster.

According to the Council for Responsible Nutrition, nutrient shortfalls have health consequences that could impact daily life and overall well-being. Only two out of ten adults get the recommended 250–1000mg of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) per day, positively correlated to both heart and cognitive health.

DSM will premiere a new line of very high concentrate fish and algal oil, with ultra-customisable EPA and DHA levels to better address consumer health concerns. The new fish oil product is designed to facilitate the development of targeted dietary supplements that have the precise quantities of EPA and DHA required to support heart and cognitive health claims. It is the latest addition to DSM’s comprehensive MEG-3 portfolio, which is sustainably sourced and purified to exceed safety and quality standards.

DSM will also highlight its customised nutritional premix service, Fortitech Premixes and its dedicated Nutrition Innovation Center, where tailor-made formulations are developed for a variety of applications.

'In a complex and competitive industry, dietary supplement manufacturers are increasingly looking for strategic partners at every stage of product development, from concept through to retail shelf promotion,' comments Thierry Garrier, Marketing Director at DSM. 'We offer an extensive, scientifically substantiated ingredient portfolio, flexibility as a premix supplier and wide-ranging technical, regulatory and marketing expertise. This means we can create customised solutions that give customers an important competitive edge, by enabling open innovation and speed to market.'

DSM’s custom nutrient premix service gives dietary supplement manufacturers access to a library of more than 1400 functional ingredients, which can be formulated for any application. Each individual ingredient is fully tested to ensure quality, reliability and traceability and backed by DSM’s Quality for Life promise to provide added peace of mind. The one-stop service delivers time and cost savings for dietary supplement manufacturers, who also benefit from DSM’s formulation expertise and R&D resources.

DSM’s Nutrition Innovation Center is at the core of DSM’s ability to provide significantly shortened product development time, allowing customers to truly get their product to market ahead of the competition. It is part of a network of state-of-the-art facilities and has advanced application and service laboratories, can provide training, knowledge exchange, and brand innovation and concept workshops, to give customers access to the latest consumer insights and market trends. DSM will feature customised, premium beverages fortified with DSM ingredients at its booth to showcase its full range of capabilities.

DSM‘s guest speaker, Dr Balz Frei, Director and Endowed Chair, Linus Pauling Institute, will participate in a session at SupplySide Education 'Meeting the New 2015 Dietary Guidelines for Americans Naturally,' on Tuesday 6 October from 9:00–9:50AM.

DSM is also hosting the SupplySide West ‘First-Time Attendee Reception’ on Tuesday 6 October from 5:00–7:00 p.m. PDT at 1923 Bourbon & Burlesque, Mandalay Bay, where first-time attendees will have a chance to connect with DSM staff on hand and well-known industry leaders, learn more about the show and navigate the industry.
