Visitors can sample groundbreaking, off-the-shelf products that DSM has partnered to develop

DSM is to reveal its unique ability to help customers boost innovation with a diverse portfolio of both commercially available products and more than two dozen new prototypes at this year’s booth (2389).

These include solutions for nutritional lipids, premixes, carotenoids, vitamins, salt reduction, sugar reduction and natural food preservation - all strong innovation areas for DSM given its position as a well-established market leader in these categories.

Many of the prototypes available have been consumer-tested, to gain insight on how best to support customers with their formulation challenges. The results to be shared at the show highlight the appeal, believability and uniqueness of the products, as well as consumers’ purchase intent.

Visitors can sample groundbreaking, off-the-shelf products that DSM partnered to develop, such as

  • LOLIVITA: the world's first edible vitamin cup, from pioneering edible disposables and packaging company, LOLIWARE. LOLIVITA is the first launch in what will be an entire line of functional food cups that are made from seaweed, organic sweeteners, non-GMO colours and natural flavours with an added dose of daily vitamins.
  • Vitamingum and SmartGum: breath-freshening chewing gums that are full of soluble key nutrients for children’s sports nutrition and adult’s daily health.

Additional samples include fortified fruit and vegetable snack purees in a convenient pouch format and a naturally flavoured berry beverage with B vitamins and caffeine for sports recovery.

Tobe Cohen, Vice President North America, DSM Human Nutrition, comments: 'We play an integral part in supporting accelerated customer innovation and are dedicated to providing tailored nutritional solutions that can be positioned to meet consumer expectations. Our investment in researching how consumers respond to products is testament to our belief in adding value for our customers.'

In addition, DSM will highlight its broad portfolio aimed at enabling better food for everyone. This will include food and beverage solutions for better baked goods, salt-reduced savoury and sugar-reduced dairy applications. It will also present solutions to reduce food waste throughout the food and beverage value chain, showcasing DelvoCid+, an FDA GRAS Notified (GRN 517) preservative based on natamycin for use in non-alcoholic beverages that protects against spoilage from mould and yeast.

It provides opportunities to reduce artificial preservatives, while extending shelf-life and improving the flavour profile of beverages. Visitors are invited to try a variety of different samples at the booth, such as Pho Vietnamese chicken soup, baked muffins and caffeine dairy shots.
