Patented bacterial strain means that consumers can enjoy the health benefits of probiotics in products beyond yoghurts

Global ingredient solutions and nutritional premix provider, Glanbia Nutritionals, has expanded its co-operation with Ganeden to offer the innovative probiotic GanedenBC30 to Europe, the Middle East and South Africa, in addition to North America.

GanedenBC30, the patented strain of Bacillus coagulans probiotic bacteria, enables consumers to enjoy the health benefits of probiotics in products outside the realm of yoghurts, from baked goods and bars to smoothies and protein shakes. In addition, GanedenBC30 provides superior viability within the digestive system, ensuring that the probiotic delivers optimal health benefits in the intestines.

GanedenBC30 is a spore-forming probiotic bacterium. In the spore state, the cell is protected from the heat and pressure of manufacturing processes, as well as the stomach acids it is exposed to during digestive transit. Once safely inside the small intestine, the spore germinates and is able to produce new vegetative cells. Owing to these characteristics, GanedenBC30 is extremely shelf-stable, requires no refrigeration and can be baked, boiled or frozen while retaining superior viability compared with other probiotic strains.

'As an innovative ingredient backed by impressive scientific research, GanedenBC30 is an excellent addition to our product portfolio,' says Raimund C. Hoenes, CEO, Customised Solutions at Glanbia Nutritionals. 'We’re excited to continue working with Ganeden to increase its profile in new geographical markets and introduce GanedenBC30 in new applications for our customers.'
