Glanbia Nutritionals showcases new bar and beverage technologies at IFT 2014

Ongoing creativity and continuously expanding range of smart food and beverage ingredients will be highlighted


Glanbia Nutritionals, the leading global ingredients innovator and formulation specialist, is highlighting its ongoing creativity and continuously expanding range of smart food and beverage ingredients at this year’s IFT show in New Orleans, Louisiana, US from 21–24 June 2014. Focusing on functionality, advanced nutrition and speciality ingredients, great tasting prototypes will be available at booth 1035 to demonstrate the broad technical capabilities and expert innovation that Glanbia Nutritionals brings to key markets.

Visitors to Glanbia Nutritionals’ booth will be able to sample an Energy Chia Smoothie, a nutritional beverage harnessing the ALA-Omega 3 and fibre benefits of BevGrad Chia. This super-finely milled powder delivers a smooth texture without compromising the taste or nutritional benefits of natural chia. The smoothie will also feature Glanbia Nutritionals’ Energy Premix, containing NutraShield caffeine, an encapsulation technology applied to caffeine for a better taste, and Carnipure Carnitine, which provides sustained energy in stable beverage formulations.

Also included in the premix is Chromax Chromium Picolinate, which provides cognitive support and B vitamins, a natural source of energy to aid metabolism support. Finally, the smoothie introduces OptiSol 1061, a true Greek yogurt powder that enables manufactures to introduce a desired ingredient in foods and beverages outside of Greek Yogurt. Grade A and rBST free, its primary function is to create an authentic Greek yogurt flavour profile in beverages, bars, dairy foods, dips and sauces.

Highlighting its formulation expertise in bar applications, Glanbia Nutritionals will also present Probiotic Greek Yogurt Chia Bars. The prototype features GanedenBC30, a shelf-stable probiotic that promotes digestive health and immune system maintenance. Showcasing the functional benefits of OptiSol 2000, a unique binding system enabling reduced sugar in cereal bars, the prototype will also feature OptiSol 1061 Greek yogurt powder in a coating. The bar will further emphasise the nutritional benefits of chia through the inclusion of SelectChia Cracked White MP, a heat-treated cracked chia that provides visual interest, optimises shelf life and delivers a good source of ALA-omega 3 in this bar.
