Addressing key consumer trends, Glanbia Nutritionals will present three innovative concepts highlighting the depth of its beverage solutions portfolio.
Once the mainstay of professional athletes and body builders, sports nutrition has become a huge growth market for regular athletes. Alongside this growth, there has been further demand for more natural sources of energy in sports nutrition, and a real focus from consumers seeking clean label beverages. Plant-based beverages such as smoothies and juices made of superfoods is a fast-growing category among consumers.
To cater for this expanding market of health-conscious individuals, Glanbia has developed Plant Warrior Superfood Infusion, a plant-based drink offering fatigue-fighting BCAAs, aiding energy yield and muscle function.
Showcased at the event’s New Beverage Concept Bar and on the Glanbia Nutritionals stand, ingredients include ChoiceChia Black MP, whole chia seeds, which are a great source of vegetarian ALA omega-3, fibre, protein and calcium; and AminoBlast, a powerful blend of BCAA amino acids.
Also included is a mineral combination of Mg and K, supporting normal energy yield. BevGradXS, a super-finely milled flaxseed with a smooth texture and excellent dispersibility, provides exceptional flax nutrition whereas BevGrad Oats GF, a gluten-free super-finely milled oat flour dissolves easily and helps deliver key carbohydrates, fibres and proteins in the plant based energising smoothie drink.
Combined, these ingredients provide an easy, clean and tasty blend for fruit juice and smoothie applications, highlighting Glanbia’s innovative formulation skills in the sports nutrition and functional beverage application areas.
Further showcasing the company’s beverage know-how, Glanbia will present a refreshing water-based, fruit flavour protein drink also at the New Beverage Concepts Bar.
The protein water, with added vitamins (B12, B3), packs in 12 g of protein per 500 mL bottle, is sugar- and fat-free and is offered in three enjoyable flavour notes: berry, pomegranate and orange.
With no artificial flavours, less than 0.5 g of carbs and only 50 calories, it’s the perfect option for consumers to top up their protein levels pre-or post-workout, or even just as part of a balanced diet.
Created by Glanbia with NutraCoPack in 2016, this is a true example of Glanbia’s collaboration with its customers to develop innovative products to address consumer needs.
The growth in mainstream consumers seeking to up their protein intake has led to beverage manufacturers creating new and exciting combinations using natural ingredients to provide the boost people are looking for.
Highlighting its thorough knowledge and expertise in customised solutions for beverage applications, Glanbia will present its Muscle Mocha, a great tasting hot coffee drink, packed with both protein and natural caffeine to fuel the body.
Each serving delivers 10 g of protein from two sources. The first is from ProTherma, the heat-stable hydrolysed whey protein that can withstand brewing temperatures and is designed for use in hot beverages such as tea, coffee, hot chocolate and soup.
Second is Micelle XL, a source of slow release milk protein to ensure a steady flow of protein during the day, which supports maintenance and muscle growth. At the drinktec Innovation Flow Lounge in Hall B1, a product presentation on the Muscle Mocha will be given by Meilissa Hosen, Product Manager at Glanbia Nutritionals, to interested visitors.
Also, this innovative beverage concept has been shortlisted for the best sports or fitness drink category at FoodBev World Beverage Innovation Awards, which will be announced on the evening of 14 September at drinktec.
