Microalgae-derived astaxanthin to be cultivated in photobioreactors

Greensea, a Greentech sister company, offers one of the most powerful antioxidants and free radical scavengers, microalgae-derived astaxanthin.

Greensea develops many cultures of microalgae in their own photobioreactors (PBR). More than 50,000L of production can be managed, three times each month, in their tubular and annular PBRs.

The PBR enables specific microalgal physiologies to be induced, producing particular active compounds as a result of environmental and medium culture conditions.

With a collection of more than 300 species, Greensea has numerous possibilities to extract, produce and purify cosmetic active ingredients.

Astaxanthin is a well-known antioxidant, which is already largely used in food and feed. In addition to its anti-inflammatory activity, its antioxidant property gives a high photoprotection capacity to the skin and a strong defence ability against pollutants and environmental stressors.

Astaxanthin is a capable shield against sun, pollutants and external stimuli. Lastly, it also stabilises skin hydration and limits the effects of ageing.
