HP Ingredients' Tongkat Ali extract supports men's fitness

Two recent studies have highlighted the ingredient's benefits for cardiorespiratory fitness and sexual health

HP Ingredients’ LJ100 Tongkat Ali ingredient is the subject of two recently published studies showing benefits for men’s health in ageing and fitness.

In the first study, the six-month, double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomised trial investigated the sexual performance effects of supplementation with LJ100 in middle-aged men with androgen deficiency of ageing males (ADAM).

In this study, 45 men with ADAM were randomised into 4 groups: a control group, a treatment group, and two groups that combined either a placebo or treatment with training three times a week for 60 minutes at progressive intensity.

Erectile function demonstrated improvements in both interventions; however, the most significant results were obtained by men allocated to the treatment group with concurrent training. The researchers concluded that a 200 mg LJ100 ingestion with concurrent training for 6 months significantly improved the erectile function of men with ADAM.

In the second published study, the same cohort was also examined for effects of 200 mg LJ100 consumption and muscle strength and cardiorespiratory fitness during the six months of concurrent training.

The researchers found that during the study period, the isokinetic peak torque of the knee extensors increased in the training (14%) and treatment with training (17%) groups while the isokinetic peak torque of knee flexion increased in the treatment with training group only. For all participants, testosterone levels were correlated with isokinetic peak torque of knee extension and flexion.

“These two studies overall validate our previous research on LJ100 in men, which is compelling news for formulators,” Annie Eng, CEO of HP Ingredients said. “As more men are proactive about their health and no longer embarrassed to take measures to support their sexual abilities and virility, LJ100 is a powerful tool for this ever-growing audience.”
