Indena has released the seventh episode of its Phytocast podcast series, which has been tracking the company’s history to celebrate its centennial anniversary. This week’s episode is dedicated to the 1970s and focuses on technological innovation.

“As soon as Man set foot on the Moon, lunar excitement gave creative impetus to high technology. In this context, Inverni Della Beffa renewed with even more determination its technological impulse to modernize botanical derivatives. This paradigm shift led to a new perspective, and hence to a new name,” the company says.

In 1977, Indena was founded. The event marked a step forward in research and technological innovation for the company, with the debut of its first finished products for the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical markets.

The company chose Sylibum marianum as a symbol of innovation. Owing to analytical technologies, scientific studies were able to describe its extracts’ mechanisms of action for the first time. An example of the results obtained with high technology is silymarin, an antioxidant that can protect the liver and promote the regeneration of damaged hepatic cells.
