Kerry, a market leader in taste and nutrition solutions, will open a €100m Global Technology and Innovation Centre in Naas, Ireland in the first quarter of 2015 that it says will provide 'a focal point for advancing scientific research, innovative processing technologies and market leading technology platforms'.

The Centre will feature a stand-alone Nutrition Suite, which will be a hub for collaborative discovery based around consumer and market insight, nutritional science and leadership in innovation.

It will support a portfolio launched at HiE that spans everything from infant nutrition and general wellness to healthcare nutrition; and they all taste great, the company says.

'While consumers are clearly showing increased interest in health and wellbeing, it is evident that they are not willing to compromise on taste, even for health benefits,’ said Albert McQuaid, Chief Technical Officer of functional ingredients and actives at Kerry.

‘Kerry’s integrated approach, which combines science, innovation and applications expertise ensures that healthier products, which might have lower salt, sugar, fat content or be nutritionally fortified, are not compromised on taste and consequent consumer enjoyment.'

In the area of infant nutrition, Kerry has been researching and developing solutions for more than 30 years enabling healthy growth and development in the key areas of cognition, digestion and immunity, ensuring that young children grow up to be big, strong and bright.

As populations continue to age across the globe, by working with our customers Kerry also aims to create food and beverage products for ageing adults that build and sustain health.

Non-communicable diseases such as obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease are all on the rise. Here, Kerry is working with customers to develop nutritional solutions that can include wholegrain, protein, fibre, heart healthy fats and functional ingredients to help consumers achieve healthier lifestyles.

There has been a steady increase in consumer demand for healthier food and beverages with people gaining more access to nutrition information and consequently becoming more aware of their nutritional requirements, and their overall health.

In this area, Kerry offers complete solutions such as protein crisps and clusters for nutritional snacks, nutritionally fortified beverages, as well as protein, fibre and wholegrain solutions. For the ever growing healthy snacking category, the company offers dairy and vegetable based protein crisps, high protein fillings, cereal clusters, specialised proteins, and coatings.

'Taste is never compromised with our industry-leading portfolio of flavour technologies and our applications expertise,' the company says.

In the area of performance nutrition, a well balanced diet with plenty of fluid intake and appropriate amounts of protein, fat, energy, iron, fibre, vitamins, and minerals helps the body perform at its best. Protein is essential for growth and repair of the body, and maintenance of good health.

Kerry’s fully customisable solutions enable customers to develop performance nutrition products that target specific lifestyle, exercise and recovery requirements for their consumers.
