Lonza CEO steps down

Chairman Albert Baehny will take over for Marc Funk who is leaving for personal reasons

Lonza announced today that Marc Funk, CEO, will leave the company for personal reasons.

The Board of Directors also announced that Albert Baehny, Chairman, will take on the additional responsibility of Chief Executive Officer on an ad interim basis until a permanent successor is found.

Funk will stay until January 2020 to ensure a smooth hand-over.

In addition, for reasons of good governance, board member Christoph Maeder has been appointed Lead Independent Director by the Board.

Christoph Maeder, Lead Independent Director said: "Albert has agreed to lead the company on a temporary basis until a successor is in place, for which a search has commenced. The Board respects Marc's decision and would like to thank him for his service to Lonza and wish him well for his future endeavours."
