Newly launched inavea brand has added a pure acacia ingredient, a sustainable acacia fibre with a carbon-neutral commitment

Nexira has announced it is taking its sustainability a step further with inavea, its first organic and sustainable brand committed to the preservation of nature’s precious resources.

The ingredients company has launched, Inavea, a brand of organic and sustainable ingredients that preserves natural resources, supports local communities and aims for a carbon-neutral footprint.

Sustainability

Nexira has been involved in Sustainable Development since the 70s. With the NGO SOS SAHEL, Nexira acts for the protection of acacia forests for future supply using a combination of economic development, social development for the local population and environmental protection to prevent deforestation.

Nexira aims to go one step beyond the path of sustainability with inavea by enhancing its current commitment to two of the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, 15 and 17.

  • Nexira supports the Sustainable Development Goals
  • Nexira aims for a carbon-neutral footprint for the inavea brand

Launched late 2019, the inavea line now offers inavea Pure Acacia, a sustainable acacia fibre with a carbon-neutral commitment and involvement in the preservation of natural resources and community care. The new ingredient offers the value of high digestive tolerance for fibre and prebiotic enrichment in a large array of applications.

Acacia gum is a dried exudate from the stem and branches of Acacia trees. It is produced by making incisions in the bark of trees. The sap forms nodules which are harvested to be sorted out, cleaned and processed into kibbled acacia gum.

Prebiotic acacia

With a minimum of 90% fibre content guaranteed on dry weight, inavea PURE ACACIA is a clean label ingredient for fibre fortification. The prebiotic effect of acacia fibre has been largely demonstrated for 40 years in more than 40 studies and this new offering has a strong prebiotic effect at a dose of 10 g/day, stimulating healthy bacteria and contributing to the Short Chain Fatty Acids production.

Nexira's latest study, using the SHIME model, has demonstrated that the intake of its prebiotic acacia results in a diversified microbiome: more healthy bacteria and more bacteria strains. Previous studies have demonstrated that the ingredient can help to restore the gut barrier.

Starting in 2020, Nexira will unveil new scientific evidence and technical benefits driven by inavea, as well as providing new innovative synergies and solutions to the industry.
