Polaris has gained European authorisation for its new, super-concentrated, ultra-purified algal Omega-3 oil.
Omegavie DHA 700 algae Sensory QualitySilver 5 has a DHA content of 700mg/g. This is higher than any other DHA algal oil in triglyceride form and makes the product one of the richest sources of DHA on the market.
It combines this ultra-high concentration with a range of properties demanded by Omega-3 markets. It is sourced sustainably from microalgae cultivated in a highly controlled green environment and extracted without solvents.
It is then subjected to a purification process, which increases the level of healthy polyunsaturated fatty acids. The product has very low saturated fatty acid content – around 5% compared to 30% or higher in other algal DHA oils.
Omegavie DHA 700 algae Sensory QualitySilver 5 is suitable for vegetarians and vegans, non-GMO and free from allergens. It is also exceptionally stable, thanks to Polaris’ patented QualitySilver 5 technology, which helps protect the nutritional profile of the oil and increases its resistance to oxidative stress.
Meanwhile, outstanding organoleptic properties mean manufacturers do not have to worry about the fishy taste and smell that puts many consumers off traditional Omega-3.
The product, which was previously only available outside Europe, has now received EU authorisation after being approved for all market segments by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland.

Polaris, which will celebrate its 25th anniversary this year, will showcase the new oil at Food Ingredients Europe, 3-5 December 2019.
