Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries allows company to increase their number of Antarctic trawlers

Norweigan-based Rimfrost has received a second krill harvesting licence from the Norwegian government. The granting of this second licence means the company can increase its Southern Ocean presence to two trawlers. These trawling vessels are equipped with new solutions for harvesting and processing krill.

Krill trawling is a key part of the production of oil for human consumption. In addition, Rimfrost will produce protein hydrolysates and protein powders.

Rimfrost is a company that exclusively focuses on the natural extracts from Antarctic krill. The company provides every step from harvesting and processing to the final product of krill oil and powder.

CEO, Mr Stig Remøy, also said they would: “expand into new areas such as aquaculture feed market as well as the pet food market.”

Adding that: “We will continue to innovate and provide the market with new and interesting products.”
