US-China HPA organises sports nutrition summit in China

Published: 9-May-2016

This is a must-attend event for those interested in learning more about China’s sports nutrition regulatory environment, product approval process, market size, sales channels and cutting-edge ingredients

Sports nutrition has a very promising future in China. We, however, as an industry, need to work more closely together to educate, share and assist in guiding the industry toward its true potential.

The fitness and exercise industry is growing exponentially. However, the development of sports nutrition is not enjoying similar expansion owing to the regulatory environment as well as consumer’s lack of product knowledge. Below are some industry figures:

China’s sports nutrition figures

  • 2015 market size: US$74m
  • 2015 growth rate: 14% (slowing from 2012 growth rate of 19%)

China’s premiere fitness industry expo: FIBO China by the numbers

  • 2014 inaugural: 4238 visitors
  • 2015 second annual: 10,827 visitors (155% increase)

China fitness centres

  • 2015 market size: >$20bn
  • 2015 growth rate: 30% compared with global average of 20%

China’s fitness apps

  • 2015 growth: 128% (second overall growth category)

With the above in mind, the US-China Health Products Association is organising the 'China International Sports Nutrition Industry Summit 2016' in Shanghai, together with sponsors GNC, NSF, TSI Group and World Health Store. The summit is bringing together global and domestic industry leaders to learn, share and network.

This is a must-attend event for those interested in learning more about China’s sports nutrition regulatory environment, product approval process, market size, sales channels and cutting-edge ingredients/products, as well as hearing from experts that have been involved in China’s sports nutrition/fitness industry since its inception.

The timing of the summit is perfect because it is followed by China’s best expo for finished health products and raw materials. HealthPlex-Nutraceutical China Expo is held simultaneously with FiAsia-China and CPHI China from 21–23 June at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. The combined expo is host to 60,000 global visitors and some 3000 booths.
