When taking a vitamin supplement, the total quantity of a particular nutrient present in the tablet or capsule is insignificant if the digestive system cannot absorb it.
Simply taking more of a vitamin is neither a safe nor an effective option, either.
To tackle this problem, supplement brand SYNEVIT uses enteric coatings to deliver timed precision for the release of its expertly dosed supplements
Enteric-coated tablets are designed to rely on either a time-based or enzyme-triggered mechanism.
The goal is to get the vitamin through the stomach without being compromised. Once in the intestines, the coating dissolves, releasing the components for maximum absorption.
"You don't just want more with each vitamin," said company CEO George Cvetkovski. "You want the right concentration.”
“I remember during the pandemic, people were taking 50 g of zinc per day. You only need 15 g. That's the recommended daily allowance. But whether it's 15 or 50, it won't do you much good if your body can't absorb it properly. That's why we use timed release with enteric coatings," he continued.
Not all delayed-release vitamins have enteric coatings, however. There are also modified release options that release their components at a steady rate.
In contrast, enteric coatings are more location-dependent. This means they are timed or delayed to release at a specific point in the digestive system.
The result of this timed release is better uptake of the ingredient, more efficient use of resources and increased overall health.
