Sensient Flavours & Extracts has launched BioSymphony, a portfolio of natural flavours suitable for food and beverage applications.
Derived from nature's finest ingredients, the flavouring range eliminates the need for special regional labelling, while simplifying formulations for food and beverage manufacturers.
“We like to call it ‘complexification’,” says Steve Morris, President of Sensient Flavors & Extracts. “BioSymphony takes simple ingredients to the next level and enables you to do more with less.”
According to the company, BioSymphony delivers value in three strategic ways:
- Premiumisation: BioSymphony enhances the flavour of food and beverage products, helping them to stand out in crowded markets. For example, it can help processed tomatoes taste like they've been stewed for hours
- Flavour expansion: By adding nuance and complexity to existing, well-loved flavours, BioSymphony helps developers unlock new dimensions in their current flavour library
- Ingredient challenge solutions: By boosting the performance of key ingredients, BioSymphony allows developers to reduce or replace premium, scarce or production-limiting ingredients, while preserving the intended flavour impact
- Rebalancing flavours: BioSymphony enhances and rebalances the flavour profile of food products when using taste-challenging ingredients like pea protein.
“We’re using nature’s instruments to create taste harmony,” says Suja Senan, PhD, Senior Innovation Scientist II and lead developer of BioSymphony.
“Just as a string quartet is beautiful, a full symphony orchestra brings a piece to life—filling the senses and connecting emotionally. That’s what BioSymphony does with flavour,” he concluded.
