The European Specialist Sports Nutrition Alliance (ESSNA) has announced that testing specialist NSF has joined the organisation, expanding the Alliance's network across the sports and active nutrition supply chain.
NSF brings with it more than 80 years of experience in testing, inspection, certification and advisory services.
The organisation serves more than 40,000 clients in 110 countries and is a collaborating centre of the World Health Organization on Food Safety and Water Quality.
It is also a recognised leader in developing voluntary standards, with more than 160 published through a public process involving industry, regulators and public health experts.
In the sports nutrition sector, NSF provides certification and consulting services for food supplements and personal care products, enhancing product quality and consumer confidence.
David Clarke, Director of Nutrition and Wellness at NSF, said: "Joining ESSNA represents a significant step in our mission to protect athletes and consumers through rigorous testing, certification and scientific oversight of the products they depend on."
The sports nutrition industry continues to navigate significant challenges, including contamination risks, increasingly complex supply chains and evolving regulatory frameworks.
"Our ESSNA membership strengthens NSF's ability to support manufacturers, brands and governing sports bodies in protecting the integrity of sports nutrition products across the globe and empowers consumers and athletes to choose products they can trust."
Dr Luca Bucchini, Chair of ESSNA, added: "We’re delighted to welcome NSF as the latest organisation to join ESSNA."
Their global expertise in testing, certification and standards development further strengthens the association as we continue to represent the responsible sports and active nutrition sector across Europe.
