The functional wellness ingredient developer Everwell Health has announced the findings from a new open-label study on its beauty-from-within ingredient, Lustriva.
The study evaluated Lustriva's real-world impact on measures of hair and skin appearance and also on consumers' self-confidence.
The study
The research included 103 participants (90 females and 13 males) with mild to moderate hair thinning and changes in hair and skin appearance were tracked during a 12-week period while participants consumed Lustriva daily.
Participants completed questionnaires at weeks four, eight and twelve, including the Hair Loss Quality of Life survey.
Results showed consistent improvements in the following:
- 70% reported reduced hair shedding
- 57% reported less hair thinning
- 48% experienced new hair growth.
Notable improvements included shinier and healthier-looking hair. Participants also reported the following improvements:
- 50% noted smoother, healthier skin
- 40% observed brighter skin
- 34% saw improvements in lines and wrinkles.
Initially, only 17% felt their hair did not affect their quality of life, but this increased to 57% by the end of the study.
"This threefold increase reflects Lustriva’s ability to help reduce the negative impact of hair concerns on daily life," said Catherine Kwik-Uribe, Chief Science Officer for Everwell Health.
Importantly, participants' self-confidence grew measurably over the duration of the study, with nearly 60% stating they felt more confident at the end of the 12 weeks — supporting the changes participants experienced were more than just cosmetic.
"What stands out to me are the results consumers themselves reported in this study, including a reduction in hair thinning, an increase in new hair growth and improved satisfaction with the appearance of both hair and skin," said Dr Omer Ibrahim, Board-Certified Dermatologist and Medical Director of KGL Skin Study Center, where the research was carried out.
These real-world data directly align with and further add credibility to the existing body of clinical evidence supporting Lustriva.
Awareness of the connection between internal health and external appearance is increasing demand for beauty-from-within supplements and reshaping the hair and skin health markets.
FMCG Gurus has reported that consumers are mainly focused on improving self-confidence, enhancing appearance and reducing signs of ageing, highlighting the link between outer appearance and inner confidence.
"As consumers increasingly embrace a more holistic approach to beauty, they prioritise products and ingredients backed by science," noted Kwik-Uribe, "Today's consumers want benefits they can see and feel."
This study demonstrated meaningful, consumer-perceived benefits and further strengthens Lustriva's scientific foundation as an effective ingredient for promoting existing hair growth and healthier-looking skin.
