OmniActive Health Technologies presented multiple studies at last week's American Society of Nutrition conference based on recent science in the weight management, eye health, energy, and cognition categories.

"We are dedicated to propelling our industry with strong research to further solidify the efficacy and safety of our offerings. We are pleased at how well each of these clinicals was received by the scientific community, as well as the attention from the industry we are gaining because of them," said Deshanie Rai, PhD, VP, Global Scientific & Regulatory Affairs for OmniActive. "These four posters represent our continued efforts to build a robust breadth of science to substantiate our position within the categories we specialise in."

The energy, cognitive, and mood categories are starting to overlap, the company says. In response, it conducted a study on Xtenergy, with results showing a slow and sustained level of plasma caffeine associated with feelings of being more alert, less tired, better overall mood, less jittery and less tense for longer time periods. The researchers for this study believe a sustained release caffeine formulation could be beneficial for those involved in activities demanding peak cognitive and physical performance for longer periods of time.

To substantiate the initial findings from its Metabolic Rate I study, OmniActive conducted a second study on Capsimax's effects on resting energy expenditure (REE). Energy expenditure plays an important role in obesity development, hence an increase in REE could facilitate body weight management. The study results reportedly demonstrate Capsimax supplementation increases REE and may be a useful nutritional strategy to support weight management efforts.

OmniActive is currently expanding its eye health and performance portfolio and began a clinical program on an integrated actives blend to address dry eye discomfort. The study showed this nutritional combination performed significantly better than placebo in improving eye hydration and moisture, tear stability and quality, and overall eye comfort.

OmniActive also conducted a bioavailability study on a custom lutein and zeaxanthin ingredient developed to deliver a superior eye health solution. The bioavailability behaviour of this formulation is hoped to be advantageous for consumers looking to enhance their vision protection and performance.

"OmniActive prides itself on being a partner of choice for customers seeking to differentiate with innovative and clinically validated ingredients," said Kimberly Smith, CMO at OmniActive. "It's not just about providing a premium ingredient-it's about listening to the needs of our customers and working closely together with them to deliver a solution that helps them grow their business."
