Balchem  announces a powerful new collaboration in the DACH region with Orthomol, one of Germany's most respected dietary supplement brands.

This collaboration represents a regional example of Balchem’s strategy, focused on partnering with brands that align with its science and quality positioning.

Under the agreement, Orthomol will incorporate Albion Minerals, the pioneer of chelated mineral science, into its new Orthomol Essentials range available in the DACH region.

This innovative line of single-branded ingredient supplements is designed for consumers who want precise, personalised nutrition from trusted, tried-and-tested science-backed ingredients.

A shared focus on science and quality

Both Albion Minerals and Orthomol are built on decades of scientific expertise and a shared commitment to quality.

The collaboration is launching through Orthomol's new online shop, an exclusive direct-to-consumer platform for the DACH region.

The portfolio includes products such as Albion Magnesium Bisglycinate Chelate, among additional Albion solutions. The shop also features products containing Balchem’s OptiMSM, the purest and most researched methylsulfonylmethane for beauty from within, muscle and joint health.

This approach reflects a broader trend toward targeted, branded ingredient concepts being integrated into new business models within the supplement industry.

Meeting demand for targeted, high-quality supplementation

Consumer preferences in the supplement market continue to shift toward specificity and quality.

Although general health supplements remain the largest category, products addressing defined health needs — such as healthy ageing, brain health and menopause — are growing significantly faster, reflecting a move toward more personalised nutrition solutions.

At the same time, ingredient quality has become a dominant purchase driver.

According to figures from Mintel, “quality of ingredients” is the leading purchase influencer for vitamin and mineral supplements at 40%, ahead of price/affordability at 39%.

Further industry research shows that consumers increasingly use branded ingredients as a signal of efficacy, consistency and trust — particularly in mineral supplementation where bioavailability and tolerability play a critical role.

The Orthomol Essentials range has been developed in response to these trends, pairing Orthomol’s clean‑label philosophy with the recognised performance and scientific backing of Albion Minerals.

"With Orthomol Essentials, we are strategically expanding our portfolio to address new market demands and evolving customer needs."

"Through our partnership with Balchem, we have now been able to launch selected branded ingredients in the new Essentials line that perfectly meet our high standards for quality and science, and represent modern nutritional formulations," commented Jörn Weißenfeld, Managing Director, Product Development, Medical & Regulatory Affairs, Technical Operations, Orthomol.

Dominik Mattern, Vice President Marketing and Science, Human Nutrition & Health, Balchem, continues: "Orthomol and Albion are cut from the same cloth — both originals in our respective fields, both built on science, and committed to doing things the right way."

"Orthomol Essentials is focused on transparency, science and delivering value to increasingly informed consumers. We couldn't be more excited about what we're building together."
