MartinBauer Nutraceuticals launches AnnurTriComplex ingredient for hair growth and follicle health

The nutra brand has introduced AnnurTriComplex, a polyphenol-rich Annurca apple ingredient clinically studied for its potential to support hair growth, follicular activity, hair strength and density

MartinBauer Nutraceuticals has announced the launch of its new ingredient AnnurTriComplex, designed to support hair strength and natural hair growth.

The brand debuted the ingredient at this year's Vitafoods Europe trade show, marking its entry into the nutraceutical market.

Hair thinning is an important aesthetic concern linked to self-perception and well-being. Studies show that about 30-50% of women and nearly 50% of men experience hair loss by age 50, with 30% of men in their twenties already showing visible thinning.

Annually, an estimated 735,000 to 800,000 hair transplant procedures are performed worldwide, reflecting the increasing demand for effective hair restoration solutions.

For product developers, these trends underscore the need for scientifically substantiated, naturally derived ingredients that support healthy hair.

However, some of the current treatments are intended only for men, as they reduce dihydrotestosterone (DHT) synthesis, while others promote vasodilation. Both approaches may also present tolerability and compliance issues for certain users or compromise sexual performance.

MartinBauer said in its release that AnnurTriComplex will offer a botanical alternative that can support follicular activity and hair growth.

The new ingredient is derived from Annurca apples (Malus pumila) cultivated exclusively in the Campania region of southern Italy and standardised for oligomeric procyanidins and polyphenols.

Clinical backing

The brand stated that pre-clinical and clinical research have already documented the impact of Annurca apples on scalp and follicular health, including increased keratin expression and antioxidant protection.

Further studies have now demonstrated that AnnurTriComplex actually enhances hair follicle activity and reprograms mitochondria, thereby increasing hair follicle activity and upregulating keratin synthesis, resulting in stronger, fuller‑looking hair and sustained growth with time.

Complementary in vivo studies have shown reduced hair loss and prolonged the active hair growth phase.

Clinical trials also support these findings, with one finding that supplementation with 400 mg of AnnurTriComplex twice daily significantly improved hair‑growth outcomes after 60 days in participants.

"These findings support a positioning for healthy hair growth, strength, thickness and density," said Dr Julia Wiebe of MartinBauer Nutraceuticals.

AnnurTriComplex provides formulators with a clinically effective, natural, food‑derived ingredient that supports follicular health and growth rate, helping streamline regulatory positioning while meeting consumer expectations for safety and scientific credibility.

MartinBauer added that AnnurTriComplex has good solubility and is suitable for both oral and topical applications, as well as being aligned with plant‑based and clean‑label formulation strategies.

"With increasing consumer focus on appearance and healthy ageing, hair health has become an important area of interest in nutraceutical research," Dr Wiebe concluded.

AnnurTriComplex offers a clinically substantiated solution with a clear mechanism of action, providing manufacturers with an opportunity to develop differentiated and effective hair health products.
