Clasado boosts operations with new Supply Chain Manager

Clasado Biosciences, a global leader in the development of clinically proven prebiotic ingredient and product solutions for the human gut microbiome, has announced the appointment of Sophie Walters to the role of Supply Chain Manager

As Clasado continues to grow the global reach of its award-winning prebiotic galacto-oligosaccharide (GOS) ingredient Bimuno, Sophie will act as a primary point of contact for all distribution centres, manufacturers and copackers across the company's global supply chain.

In addition, Sophie’s role will also support the manufacture and distribution of the company’s award-winning direct-to-consumer (D2C) prebiotic supplement, Bimuno DAILY.

The cross-functional business-to-business (B2B) and direct-to-consumer (D2C) role adds further depth to the sales and operations planning process, while also ensuring global customer requirements continue to be met.

With more than 10 years of experience working in supply chain-focused roles, Sophie most recently worked at Vyaire Medical as a Senior Operations Analyst. She specialises in end-to-end supply chain management and brings a wealth of knowledge from across the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors to the role.

Per Rehné, CEO of Clasado, welcomed the appointment, saying: “I’m delighted to welcome Sophie to our team. With a number of new international distribution agreements under way for our ingredient, and prebiotic supplements climbing the consumer agenda, this is a pivotal time for Clasado and our manufacturing supply chain. Sophie is highly experienced in delivering operational excellence, and we look forward to seeing her drive the operations planning process."

“Innovation drives us, but without efficient day-to-day supply planning ensuring products are delivered on-time and in full, we would be unable to bring these innovations to our customers. With the support of our team, Sophie will make her mark on our global operations as we continue to grow.”

The Bimuno GOS ingredient, available in powder and syrup formats, is the most studied prebiotic of its kind, supported by more than 100 scientific publications, including more than 20 clinical trials. Targeting consumer demand for better gut health, the versatile ingredient nourishes bifidobacteria, a beneficial bacteria in the gut microbiome that is associated with gastrointestinal health, immune function and cognition.

Demonstrating the ingredient in action, finished powder supplement Bimuno DAILY aims to make scientifically backed gut health a simple part of the everyday routine. The supplement is available for direct purchase on the company’s recently relaunched online store, at Bimuno.com.

Sophie added, “With prebiotics climbing to the top of the nutrition agenda, I’m delighted to join the Clasado family as it brings its leading GOS technology to the world stage. My remit is to deliver excellent service by effectively managing and improving the End to End (E2E) supply chain process. There is already a culture of continuous improvement at Clasado and I truly look forward to being a part of it."

“Clasado offers a unique value proposition in the prebiotic space, with enormous opportunity for health and nutrition brands to connect directly with the needs of today’s audience. I look forward to playing my part in building on Clasado’s strong momentum, shaping an effective and agile supply chain, and supporting innovative nutrition brands around the world!”
