Study shows Sibelius LactoMato improves men's reproductive health

Research has shown that Sibelius's lycopene extract increased the proportions of healthy sperm and boosted sperm speed by up to 40% in trial applicants

LactoMato, the latest launch of Sibelius Natural Products, has entered the market backed by research proving that the tomato oleoresin formulation has a positive effect on sperm quality and quantity.

Multiple clinical studies have also demonstrated its ability to help support prostate and cardiovascular health, the company said.

Sibelius: LactoMato is a proprietary lycopene (LactoLycopene) extract. Lycopene is considered one of the strongest antioxidants of bioactive carotenoids, but it is poorly absorbed by humans.

Sibelius said its patented formulation of LactoLycopene improves solubility and bioavailability to provide a more efficacious ingredient.

Clinical research

A recent 12-week, double-blind, placebo-controlled human clinical trial performed at the University of Sheffield, revealed that Sibelius: LactoMato displayed significant results on semen quality at a 14mg dose when compared with the placebo group.

We look forward to our continued research on the efficacy of this ingredient in further human clinical trials

The study demonstrated that trial applicants who supplemented with Sibelius: LactoMato, increased the proportions of healthy sperm and boosted sperm speed by up to 40%.

"The improved bioavailability of LactoLycopene allows the body to get the most out of this potent antioxidant; potentially protecting semen from oxidative stress and promoting higher concentration and quality of produced sperm," said Dr Kieron Edwards, Chief Scientific Officer at Sibelius Natural Products.

For Edwards, the results from the trial show that Sibelius: LactoMato "has great potential" to improve men's health. "We look forward to our continued research on the efficacy of this ingredient in further human clinical trials," he added.

Founded in late 2015 out of Oxford University, Sibelius Natural Products supports healthy ageing with branded, scientifically evidenced and clinically validated natural ingredients and products.

The company utilises Chronoscreen, a proprietary profiling platform, which allows the rapid identification of natural ingredients that have the potential to support healthy ageing at all stages of living through healthspan improvement.

The novel ingredient is distributed by Barrington Nutritionals, Sibelius North American partner.

The study "A randomized placebo-controlled trial to investigate the effect of lactolycopene on semen quality in healthy males" is available online.
