Health ingredients Europe 2014 and Natural ingredients return to Amsterdam

The food and beverage industry is going through a period of substantial growth. Sales in products with specific health benefits and those renowned for their health properties are driving the upward trend in health and wellness. Today’s consumers are seeking beneficial and functional foods that will provide solutions to their nutritional challenges and to their overall health and wellness. With an expected real-term growth of 7% by 2017, the global health and wellness industry is on its way to hitting a record high of US$1 trillion.

The Netherlands, home to this year’s Hi Europe, is showing significant development and opportunity, with an 18% increase in health and wellness sales between 2008 and 2013. In addition, sales in the Benelux region reached €10bn in 2013 and are expected to reach €11bn by 2018.

To capture these market trends, Hi Europe and Ni will provide a global meeting place and environment for buyers and sellers in the worldwide health and wellness ingredients industry. The show will take place on 2–4 December at the Amsterdam RAI. It will highlight ingredients and solutions for food and drink formulation and reformulation, dietary supplements, nutraceuticals, organics, and packaging and processing.

Hi Europe 2014 and Ni promise more than 500 world-class health and wellness suppliers in one location, all offering solutions for innovative food and beverage applications during three days. The show attracts a global audience of more than 8,000 attendees from the health and natural ingredients industries. And, as it only occurs once every two years, it simply can’t be missed!

Show highlights

Building on the success of the last edition of Hi Europe and Ni, this year the show promises even more innovation, matchmaking and learning opportunities. With more than 30 seminar sessions, various innovation tours and a new matchmaking service, there are multiple features onsite to help you make the most of your visit.

Leading ingredients manufacturers: The exhibition will showcase the latest product developments and innovations from more than 500 global, leading health and natural ingredients suppliers and solution providers, including GNT, DSM, Cargill, Kerry, Ingredion, Lonza, Naturex, Nexira, BENEO, Roquette and many more.

Hi Europe Conference: The 3-day onsite conference is divided into 16 modules plus three industry leaders’ debates. It will address the most important issues faced by the health and wellness ingredients industry today. Each module will feature a line-up of expert speakers from leading food and beverage manufacturers, ingredients suppliers and research organisations. There will also be a major exclusive presentation and Q&A with EFSA. The conference is the best chance to gain unparalleled professional development around topics including natural and functional ingredients, clean label, weight management, healthy ageing, free-from foods, supplements, regulations and much more.

New Product Zone: This feature has become a trendsetting spot for the food industry. Produced in association with Innova Market Insights, the New Product Zone will showcase 25+ new products and packaging displays, highlighting recent launches from exhibitors at the forefront of innovation in the food and beverage industry. This is the ideal feature to give new products a proper introduction to the market and to industry professionals.

Seminar Sessions: The 25-minute seminar sessions are free to attend. Here, key exhibitors will inform visitors about their latest innovations, developments and food trends by presenting new product applications, cutting edge technology and practical insights in the theatre. This will include a variety of educational seminars provided by sponsors, Mintel, during the three days.

Industry Insight Theatre: These 30-minute sessions are free to attend and will be presented by leading associations and research companies such as NVC, Euromonitor, EAS, GOED, Canadean, Leatherhead and more. They will inform, educate and captivate a highly qualified and interested audience and will feature the latest trends and innovations impacting the food and beverage industry. As Hi Europe and Ni is aiming to educate and share innovative ideas alongside the traditional exhibition, these content-rich, educational presentations will be free of charge, and each will feature a 5-minute Q&A session.

Ingredients in Action

Innova Market Insights are returning with their Ingredients in Action feature — an ingredients application tasting bar. At this feature on the Innova stand, visitors can use all five senses to explore how the latest ingredients are being applied to finished food products, while learning about current trends driving new product development.

Awards showcase and more

Food and beverage ingredients companies that have excelled in their sector and have demonstrated innovation during the past decade will be recognised in an awards showcase at Hi Europe 2014. This feature will recognise companies that have demonstrated exemplary work and have contributed to the ingredients world as a whole. It will showcase those innovative ingredients that are leading the way in the industry.

Innovation Tours: Industry experts NutriMarketing have produced and will conduct five focused, guided tours around the show floor at HiE. Featuring topical areas including heart health, weight management and sport nutrition, the Innovation Tours will highlight to visitors how key suppliers are responding to market trends through innovation.

Discovery Tours: Produced in conjunction with Leatherhead Food Research, the Discovery Tours offer visitors the opportunity to follow a trend-specific tour around the show floor at their own speed, using a guided trail show map. With five focus topics including sugar reduction and functional dairy ingredients, visitors can learn about key trends in the area while finding the perfect exhibitors to help realize their product and business goals.

HiE Mobile App: Go mobile with the HiE mobile phone App! The official show app is free and allows visitors to navigate the show floor, access the exhibitor list, store their agenda, mark must-attend seminars, make appointments and network with industry peers on the go! As a visitor, it has all the information you need right at your fingertips.

Exhibitor/Buyer Meet Up: This new feature provides a great matchmaking opportunity for visitors looking for new suppliers or a particular product. Visitors can submit their buying requests, which will then be published on the show screens for potential suppliers to get in touch with their offerings. The service is free and guarantees efficiency and a focused way of meeting the right supplier.

Holland R&D Excellence Tour: International visitors can make the most of their trip to Hi Europe and learn about innovations and research in the Dutch market, by taking part in this tour. For a small fee, visitors will be brought to three key institutions in Holland for meetings, presentations and Q&As, with a networking lunch. This feature provides an efficient opportunity to discover key developments, innovations and trends happening in the Dutch market.
