Approximately $67m is being invested at the plant

Synbio Tech has broken ground for the construction of its plant at Kaohsiung Science Park. At the plant, the company will produce probiotics and postbiotics for human health, animal health and agriculture.

In recent years, the company says, domestic and international demand for its probiotic products has contributed to high sales. Its Lactobacillus plantarum TWK10 strain, sold through a partnership with Lonza Group, has brought the company to international markets, necessitating the additional capacity of the Kaohsiung plant. Synbio Tech is investing approximately $67m into the plant to accommodate the increasing demand from the local and international markets.

“The new plant will integrate the green construction concept and efficient production lines to improve the quality and efficiency. In addition, with the plan of applying the "Green Building Label" certification, the new plant will be the backbone for our global expansion.” said Mr Yang, CEO of Synbio Tech Inc., commenting on the groundbreaking for the plan.

“With the increasing awareness of the vital role of gut microbes, we are optimistic about the application and demand of lactic acid bacteria in various business areas.  The production line of our new factory will be focused on three major directions: raw bacteria powder for health care, lactic acid bacteria for agriculture and animal husbandry, and postbiotic solutions. Furthermore, in addition to the upgrade of hardware and equipment, the new plant will set up a new strain R&D center to enhance the R&D capacity of lactic acid bacteria and intestinal microbes” added Sean Yang, General Manager of Synbio Tech Inc.
