The company is broadening its global import/export operations and appointing Michael Crabtree as general manager, strengthening direct China sourcing, quality assurance and supply chain transparency

Bioenergy Life Science (BLS) has announced the expansion of its global import/export business, giving US customers direct access to its high-quality raw branded and non-branded ingredients, as well as allowing the company's products to enter China and other fast-growing nutraceutical markets worldwide.

At the same time, the company has named Michael Crabtree as BLS General Manager.

By vertically integrating sourcing, quality management and logistics, BLS enables manufacturers to avoid traditional traders, eliminate unnecessary markups and gain valuable insights into supply chain integrity.

This approach leads to tighter cost control, faster procurement cycles and increased confidence in product origin, compliance and documentation.

This expansion strengthens BLS's long-standing commitment to traceability, regulatory compliance and quality assurance in global markets.

"The margins for importing natural product materials from China are tight. There's no room for error," said Crabtree.

"Our customers don't want to use traders, whose markups may double the price. They want someone who has direct access to the Chinese manufacturing marketplace."

It's become clear that we're very uniquely positioned to provide that connection because we work directly with contract manufacturers in Asia.

"We have native Mandarin speakers on both the Chinese and American sides who speak English. That eliminates miscommunication, accelerates problem-solving and builds confidence at every stage of the transaction."

"BLS manages logistics, warehousing and operational complexity that can distract our customers from their core business."

"This enables them to reinvest margins where they belong: in marketing, brand building and customer acquisition."

Unlike traders, BLS verifies all materials entering the US. There is never any uncertainty about the accuracy and legitimacy of a material's Certificate of Analysis (CofA).

"For example, if a customer is looking for a specific kind of magnesium, we will source it in China," explained Crabtree.

While we will accept the Chinese manufacturer's CofA and product specs, we will repeat that testing on our side using a trusted third party laboratories.

"This will include DSC testing, ensuring absolute identity verification. We'll then have Eurofins perform HPLC, metals, micro and other testing to ensure the material is clean, pure and meets all the customer's specifications and standards."

"This level of diligence has defined BLS throughout our entire history. It's foundational to our business model."

He added, "Even if we ship products direct from China to other parts of the world, we always have a batch sample of that material shipped to the US for third-party testing."

While BLS is aggressively expanding its global ingredient procurement capabilities, its leadership position in branded ingredients remains central to its strategy.

"We're not taking our eyes off our core branded ingredient business," Crabtree emphasised.

We're adding strategic capabilities that make us stronger and make our customers more competitive in a demanding global marketplace. We're building a more complete solution.
