With almost two decades of experience across the APAC region, Sebastian brings a wealth of expertise in sales, market development and commercial partnerships across the health, nutrition and supplement sectors. His career spans senior roles within the biotics industry, during which he established and grew commercial operations across South-East Asia, China, Japan, Australia and New Zealand and beyond. Sebastian will focus on expanding Clasado's reach across the region, working closely with formulators and brands to drive uptake of Bimuno® GOS.
The appointment comes at a significant moment for the prebiotic category in Asia-Pacific. The region's prebiotics market is projected to grow at an impressive compound annual growth rate of 12.4% according to Grand View Research, driven by rising consumer awareness of gut health and increasing demand for science-backed functional ingredients. In China, prebiotics are expected to follow a trajectory closely mirroring the country's probiotics boom, with consumers demonstrating a clear appetite for clinically substantiated health solutions.
Marcelo Durante, VP of Sales and Marketing at Clasado Biosciences, commented: "We are delighted to welcome Sebastian to the Clasado team. His track record of building commercial relationships and opening markets across the APAC region is exceptional, and his deep understanding of the supplement and nutrition landscape makes him ideally placed to accelerate our growth in this strategically important part of the world.
Sebastian joins at a pivotal moment, as the global gut health nutraceuticals market is projected to grow from USD 14 billion in 2026 to over USD 22 billion by 2032, and APAC is one of the fastest-moving regions within that story.
"With more than 130 scientific publications and over 25 clinical studies behind Bimuno GOS, we have the evidence base that formulators in this market are looking for. We are confident Sebastian will be a tremendous asset to our customers and partners across the region."
Sebastian added: "It's a very exciting time to be working in this space. Consumer interest in gut health across Asia-Pacific is growing rapidly, and the industry is innovating at pace to meet that demand. What attracted me to Clasado is the depth of science behind Bimuno GOS. As the most studied prebiotic of its kind, it gives formulators something genuinely compelling to build around, and that scientific credibility is a real differentiator in this market.
"I look forward to working with the wider Clasado team to deepen relationships with existing partners and develop new ones across the region. The opportunity here is significant, and I'm excited to get started."
