The BRCGS (Brand Reputation through Compliance Global Standards) audit is an internationally recognised certification framework designed to assess food safety, product quality, and operational compliance across the supply chain. Originally developed by the British Retail Consortium, it is now used by over 30,000 sites worldwide as a benchmark for best practice. The annual audit evaluates whether systems, processes, and procedures meet the strict requirements for producing safe, legal, and high-quality products.
The multi-layered assessment examined every aspect of DSC Nutrition’s business operations, including a documentation review, site inspection, and process observation, as well as interviewing employees and testing and tracing products. They were also assessed on core areas such as senior management commitment, HACCP-based food safety planning, quality management systems, and staff training – to evidence that food safety was embedded across the entire organisation.
Securing the AA grade – the highest possible rating under the certification scheme for an announced audit - demonstrates DSC Nutrition’s compliance with one of the most respected global standards for food safety and quality.
The achievement comes amidst an exciting period of growth for the business, that has seen them move from a team of nine in 2024 to a workforce of 75 at present. When it comes to manufacturing, they have introduced additional pouch filling machines for both their powder and tablet/capsule products, as well as a new tablet coater machine. Furthermore, they have increased their packaging lines, now operating seven in total, with more in the pipeline. Such operational growth has led to a recruitment drive across the business, creating job opportunities for the local area.
