Longevity Life Sciences partners with Mitsubishi Gas Chemical to bring BioPQQ to Australian market

The multi-year agreement aims to make BioPQQ the first PQQ ingredient approved for Listed Medicines in Australia, building on LLS's NMN regulatory pathway precedent and targeting the A$6.3bn complementary medicines market

Cellular health company Longevity Life Sciences (LLS) has announced a new strategic partnership with Japanese molecular compound manufacturer Mitsubishi Gas Chemical (MGC).

The multi-year, multi-compound agreement will allow LLS to bring MGC-manufactured cellular health compounds to the Australian health market, starting with BioPQQ — MGC's pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ) ingredient, a naturally occurring antioxidant that supports cellular energy, brain health and the growth of new mitochondria.

The ingredient is internationally regarded as a PQQ gold standard and will be the second compound in LLS’ CellVive platform to advance through the Therapeutic Goods Administration’s (TGA) permissible-ingredient pathway.

LLS previously spearheaded the regulatory work that made Australia the first country in the world to establish a national therapeutic goods pathway for Nicotinamide Mononucleotide (NMN)

If successful, BioPQQ would be the first PQQ ingredient approved for use in Listed Medicines in Australia. LLS said that it anticipates the ingredient to generate multi-million-dollar sales in its first year on the Australian market.

LLS CEO and co-founder Sally Panton said the partnership reflected growing international confidence in Australia’s cellular health sector.

Mitsubishi Gas Chemical is globally recognised for the quality, consistency and scientific rigour of its manufacturing and we’re proud to be partnering with them in Australia.

Longevity Life Sciences partners with Mitsubishi Gas Chemical to bring BioPQQ to Australian market"For a business of our size, a multi-year strategic partnership with a company of MGC’s standing is a significant milestone. It reflects the strength of the platform we are building and the opportunity both companies see in the global cellular health market."

“Consumers are increasingly interested in emerging longevity science, but they also want confidence in what they are buying and consuming."

Our focus is on a supply chain built on scientific evidence, traceability, consistent manufacturing and compliance with the regulatory requirements of each market.

A spokesperson for MGC added that the partnership reflected both companies’ shared commitment to scientific rigour, quality manufacturing and the responsible commercialisation of cellular health compounds.

“Longevity Life Sciences’ track record, ambition and commitment to responsible innovation made it a natural partner for us."

Together, we see significant potential to build a trusted pipeline of cellular health ingredients, beginning in Australia, where the therapeutic-goods framework is highly regarded both locally and internationally.

The pair noted that a successful TGA determination for BioPQQ could open both domestic and international markets for the ingredient. This approval would enable PQQ's use in Listed Medicines in Australia and boost export potential to Asia-Pacific, including Southeast Asia.

Australia’s complementary medicines market was valued at approximately A$6.3bn in 2025, with about 74% of Australians using products that fall into this category.

The global PQQ market is projected to grow from US$142.8m in 2025 to US$287.6m by 2033, with the Asia-Pacific accounting for about 42% of it, representing around US$60.2m in 2025.

Furthermore, the global longevity supplements market is valued at approximately US$28.6bn and is expected to reach US$62.4bn by 2034, presenting significant opportunities for Australian businesses to develop TGA-regulated products and compete internationally — especially in the Asia-Pacific region.

“PQQ is the natural second ingredient for the CellVive platform because it works hand in hand with CellVive NMN,” Panton said.

The platform gives these compounds a proprietary, regulated home in the Australian market and brings MGC’s scientific and manufacturing expertise to it as we advance a broader pipeline through Australia’s regulatory pathway and into global markets.
