The pair are aiming to remove more than 600,000 pounds of ocean-bound plastic before the end of 2028, which is NOW's 60th anniversary year

Manufacturer NOW has announced a new partnership with rePurpose Global to "address global plastic pollution."

In a statement, NOW said that the collaboration will combine its ongoing environmental efforts with rePurpose Global's "expertise in verified plastic recovery."

The pair have committed to recovering more than 600,000 pounds of ocean-bound plastic by the end of 2028 — which is NOW's 60th anniversary.

"Becoming a Plastic Recovery Pledge Partner with rePurpose Global is the latest example of our decades-long commitment to environmental responsibility and creating a cleaner, healthier future for generations to come," said Amber Cerda, Director of Marketing at NOW.

Our Plastic Recovery Pledge shows we are taking action to fight plastic pollution and working with rePurpose Global allows us to have a verifiable impact on our planet's ecosystems.

Through this partnership, NOW says that it is not only addressing the plastic waste crisis but also supporting social and environmental outcomes in regions heavily impacted by plastic pollution.

rePurpose Global's impact projects have recovered more than 100 million pounds of nature-bound plastic waste to date and provide fairer, safer and more dignified opportunities for waste workers.

"We are thrilled to partner with NOW in our collective mission to combat plastic pollution and drive transformational change," added Svanika Balasubramanian, co-founder and Chief Circulatory Officer at rePurpose Global.

We know that NOW shares our commitment to sustainable action. Together, we are working towards a fairer and cleaner future where plastic waste is no longer a threat to our environment and communities.

As part of its partnership, NOW will assist rePurpose Global in its projects in West Java, Indonesia and Goa, India. The focus will be on recovering plastic waste from vulnerable communities and ecosystems, as well as improving waste management infrastructure for local populations.

In its statement, NOW added that the new collaboration with rePurpose Global aligns with its ongoing efforts to reduce plastic waste.

Currently, approximately 90% of the packaging for NOW supplements, NOW Sports, NOW Pets and NOW Solutions carrier oils is made from 100% post-consumer recycled (PCR) resin, which has helped divert more than 15 million pounds of plastic from landfills since 2023.

The company stated that sustainability is a core value, with all its facilities prioritising environmentally conscious practices. These include energy-efficient lighting, solar panels, water conservation efforts and electric vehicle charging stations.

Additionally, two of NOW's facilities are LEED Certified, reflecting the company's commitment to maximising its green initiatives.
