Sensient Natural Ingredients has been renamed Sensient Agricultural Ingredients, effective immediately.
The new moniker helps clearly distinguish this business from the natural colour activities of Sensient’s food and pharmaceutical business units.
The announcement coincides with the addition of two specialised culinary chillis to Sensient Agricultural Ingredients’ diverse product line of US-grown dehydrated onion, garlic, parsley, capsicums and chilli varietals.
Furthermore, the move better reflects the organisation’s sustainable practices, built on long-standing relationships with local farmers invested in the applied science of soil management, seed innovation and environmental crop production.
“It may feel like a small change, but the new name is an important indicator of our differentiators within the industry,” said Steve Morris, President of Sensient’s Flavours & Extracts Group, which oversees the Agricultural Ingredients business.
“We wanted to honour the generational relationships with our farmers and the valuable and reliable supply that those connections create with a name that highlights our priorities and unique product range.”
Sensient Agricultural Ingredients offers sustainably grown, fully traceable, non-GMO ingredients.
All of its organic ingredients are grown in the US and its agronomy expertise has created a virus-free California garlic programme and a high-solids onion seed development programme.
As industry innovators, Sensient’s product portfolio consistently evolves and expands.
In conjunction with the company’s recognition of this growth and evolution, Sensient Agricultural Ingredients is launching two new signature chilli varietals, each with a unique combination of flavour, colour and heat.
These include the following:
- Puya Sol is a variety of Puya chilli known for its vibrant flavour and moderate spiciness that enhances the appeal of any dish. These chilli peppers have a mild to medium heat, with a Scoville Heat Unit (SHU) level ranging between 8000 and 15,000. The flavour is a harmonious blend of green, fruity and herbal complexity, which makes it an excellent complement to citrus, chicken, ranch and tomato — ideal for sauces, dressings and desserts.
- Sierra Sunrise Datil boasts an herbaceous aroma with honey-like sweetness layered with fruity, herbal undertones. Its golden colour is unmatched in a chilli with such vibrant flavour. With a heat level comparable to jalapeño peppers, its SHU ranges from 27,000 to 34,000. Sierra Sunrise Datil pairs wonderfully with mango, melon and lentils, which makes it perfect for hot sauces, barbecues and desserts.
Both chillis will be commercially available at the beginning of 2026 and Sensient Agricultural Ingredients plans to add more varietals to its exclusive onion, garlic, parsley, capsicum and chilli offerings in the future.
“These innovative product additions demonstrate the transformation of our business and our ability to identify and respond to changing consumer palates,” said Aret Meyer, General Manager of Sensient Agricultural Ingredients.
“In addition, our specialised breeding research and diverse growing regions enable us to cultivate varietals that provide flavour differentiation that surprises and delights consumers while ensuring sustainable practices.”
