Zinzino launches first metabolomic-based gut health test, expanding opportunities in personalised nutrition

The Scandinavian health and wellness company’s new Gut Health Test applies metabolomic analysis to blood samples, offering a scalable, stool-free approach to understanding gut function and immune interactions

Zinzino has announced a new Gut Health Test designed to analyse gut-metabolic activity through a simple, at-home finger-prick test.

Leveraging metabolomic analysis, the test evaluates the biochemical signals produced by gut bacteria and how the body responds — offering a scalable, non-invasive alternative to traditional stool-based microbiome assays.

Unlike conventional microbiome tests, which focus on microbial composition, Zinzino’s method measures function — specifically how gut metabolites influence nutrient and energy metabolism, inflammation and immune response.

This approach generates actionable insights that can inform nutritional interventions, product formulation and consumer engagement strategies across the growing personalised nutrition sector.

"This is the future of gut health testing," said Colin Robertson, Chief Product Officer at Zinzino.

"The gut is the centre of the human universe, driving overall health and well-being and this test serves as a lifestyle compass."

"It will help individuals assess their current gut health status and make the changes they need to support a healthier, more resilient body from the inside out."

The test represents a significant step toward democratising metabolomics, which is a field traditionally limited to research laboratories and aligns with broader trends toward precision wellness and preventative healthcare.

With growing consumer demand for personalised diagnostics and data-driven nutrition, Zinzino’s technology could support new partnerships across the nutraceutical, diagnostic and digital health markets.

"Our goal is to make a positive contribution to preventative health on a global scale," said Dag Bergheim Pettersen, CEO of Zinzino.

"Insights about the state of our body are hard currency today and we're very proud to empower people with tools to help them make informed decisions about their long-term health."

Customers receive a detailed report within two to three weeks, with follow-up testing recommended after 120 days to track physiological responses to dietary and lifestyle adjustments.

By eliminating the need for stool samples and providing quantifiable metabolic data, Zinzino’s Gut Health Test opens new pathways for collaboration in supplement development, clinical research and consumer-facing health programmes.

The company anticipates strong uptake in both established and emerging nutraceutical markets as the demand for validated, user-friendly diagnostics continues to rise.
