Brevel has teamed up with beverage company The Central Bottling Company (CBC Group) to develop and commercialise new microalgae-rich functional beverages for the global market.
Together, the companies will produce new ready-to-drink beverages and dairy alternatives containing Brevel's microalgae protein and oils, which can provide users with a rich source of llipids, fibre and antioxidants.
The products will incorporate Brevel's neutral powder, which contains 60–70% microalgae protein concentrate and mimics the texture, flavour and behaviour of animal proteins.
This agreement follows on from the CBC Group's strategic investment into the company, with the group giving USD $20m to Brevel to help it to commercialise its proprietary microalgae fermentation technology.
“We feel extremely fortunate to collaborate with, and enjoy the support of, such a major force in the beverage arena not only in Israel but also internationally,” noted Yonatan Golan, Brevel’s co-founder and CEO.
“This co-venture will be instrumental in keeping Brevel at the forefront of developments in food-tech and climate-tech.”
CBC Group is currently Israel's largest beverage company, being the national franchiser of huge brands such as Coca-Cola and Calsberg.
The company also operates in Eastern Europe and the South Africa region.
The CBC Group's Head of Innovation, Lihi Rothschild, concluded: “As we pursue our strategy of continuous innovation to deliver superior products that respond to evolving trends and customer demands, partnering with Brevel is a natural fit,”
“The company’s approach gives us the opportunity to explore new categories and solutions and opens new doors in terms of the range of exciting consumer applications we can offer.”
