Creating value where carob grows

Morocco is at the heart of this approach. Keragum has built strong relationships with local partners and cooperatives, providing direct access to high-quality carob seeds while strengthening Nexira’s connection with the agricultural value chain.

Carob pods are harvested at full maturity, when the seeds have reached optimal quality for processing into locust bean gum. This attention to quality from the very first stage of the supply chain, combined with local sourcing and close relationships with partners, contributes to consistent raw material quality and greater traceability.

For Nexira, sourcing at origin is not only about securing raw materials. It is about developing a long-term model that creates value locally and supports the sustainable development of the carob sector.

From local sourcing to local transformation

Keragum’s modern production facility in the Casablanca region adds another dimension to this strategy: transforming carob close to its source.

The production process is entirely mechanical, with no chemical treatment involved, preserving the natural characteristics of the carob seed while transforming it into high-quality locust bean gum. The facility combines industrial efficiency with stringent quality standards and is FSSC 22000, halal, kosher and organic certified. Combined with Nexira’s expertise in food science and application development, as well as its scientific and regulatory know-how, this local industrial capability creates an integrated approach from raw material sourcing to high-quality natural ingredients.

Strengthening the carob value chain

For food and nutrition manufacturers, greater control at origin ultimately means greater visibility over quality, traceability and continuity of supply.

With Keragum, Nexira is not simply expanding its locust bean gum capabilities. The Group is investing in the long-term development of carob, connecting Moroccan agricultural expertise and local processing capabilities with its international ingredient know-how.
