Chilean fruit processing company gains exclusive rights to process blueberry products

EnWave Corporation, a Canadian developer of industrial technology, has granted exclusive rights to Chilean fruit processing company Natural Nutrition to process blueberry products using EnWave's REV dehydration technology and the non-exclusive right to process apple, plum, strawberry, cherry, peach, grape, raspberry and blackberry products.

In exchange for these rights, Natural Nutrition has agreed to pay EnWave royalties on the revenue derived from the sale of these products.

EnWave will build and install a small commercial-scale nutraREV machine at Natural Nutrition's facility in the second half of this year to support initial market development efforts and commercial production.

According to the agreement, Natural Nutrition must purchase an additional nutraREV machine within one year, and a third within one year from the start-up of the second unit.

No financial details have been released.

REV processing operations will begin next year, with projected growth of 50 tons of finished product every year over the next four years, both as whole dried fruit and powder.

With the implementation of REV technology, Natural Nutrition aims to become a benchmark and leader in Chile, Latin America and the world for the production of high-quality dried fruit with high nutritional value, supplying the market demand for snack fruit, nutraceuticals and functional ingredients.

EnWave says REV technology is potentially faster and cheaper than freeze drying, with better end product quality than air drying or spray drying.
