ATLAUA launches CBD botanical recovery drink for athletes in US market

New luxury recovery beverage combines CBD, ashwagandha and nootropic ingredients to offer athletes an alcohol-free recovery and relaxation alternative

Recovery beverage brand ATLAUA has launched a new botanical recovery drink in the US designed specifically for athletes seeking an alternative to alcohol.

ATLAUA CALM combines CBD isolate with five functional ingredients — ashwagandha, lion’s mane, L-theanine, GABA and magnesium — in a berry-flavoured formulation developed to support recovery, relaxation and sleep hygiene.

This “stacked functionality” approach is becoming increasingly common in next-generation nutraceutical beverages.


According to the company's release, the drink was created to address what it describes as a growing "recovery deficit" among athletes, driven by elevated cortisol levels, disrupted sleep cycles and the social pressures surrounding alcohol consumption.

The brand positions alcohol as a contributor to poorer recovery outcomes and increased injury risk in athletes.


The new formulation is designed to support muscle healing, nervous system regulation and post-exercise relaxation, while helping athletes unwind without compromising next-day performance.

ATLAUA CALM is available in two formats. The flagship "Anfora" edition is a 700ml handcrafted ceramic vessel priced at $99, aimed at athlete owners and luxury hospitality venues. The second format, ATLAUA CALM Shots, contains four 60ml servings and retails at $29 for individual recovery occasions.

The “Anfora” format demonstrates how functional beverages are increasingly borrowing cues from luxury spirits and hospitality, reflecting a broader trend of premiumisation in nutraceutical drinks.

The company was founded by former professional footballer Adrian Goransch, who spent more than a decade in VfL Wolfsburg’s academy system before joining Club América.

Following a career-impacting knee injury, Goransch began exploring CBD-based recovery solutions, which ultimately led to the creation of the brand after four years of research and development.

For too long, athletes have had to choose between showing up socially and protecting their performance. ATLAUA exists so no athlete has to make that trade-off.

The functional beverage category has evolved from basic hydration and energy into products targeting mood, stress, sleep and recovery.

ATLAUA positions itself less as a supplement and more as a behavioural replacement for alcohol — a growing space often described as “functional social drinking.”

This reflects wider industry movement toward alcohol alternatives with functional benefits and products targeting stress and cortisol management.
