Digestive health is a growing concern globally, with around 33% of global consumers experiencing some type of gastrointestinal issues.

Ruedi Duss, Global Marketing Manager at DSM Nutritional Products, comments: 'Improve Your Digestion is a one-stop shop combining scientific studies, applications expertise, regulatory knowledge and consumer insights. The platform includes solutions for healthy enzymatic digestion for optimal nutrient breakdown and effective processing of ‘undesirable’ food components, such as lactose and gluten.

'In addition, DSM has combined solutions incorporating the essential nutrients to maintain a healthy microbial flora and gut wall. With this platform, we can help our customers to innovate and create nutritious and appealing products for consumers that address digestive health concerns,' Duss added.

Probiotics have so far been the most popular choice for gut health. Improve Your Digestion extends to a comprehensive portfolio that features enzymes Tolerase L and Tolerase G to process lactose and gluten. A selection of nutraceutical ingredients, such as pre- and probiotics and OatWell dietary fibres from oat beta-glucan have proven benefits for healthy gut, bowel function and intestinal immunity. The new health benefit platform also includes vitamins A, B2, C, D, E, biotin, niacin, nutritional lipids and DSM’s Fabuless patented oil-in-water emulsion.

Fortitech Premixes by DSM delivers precise blends of the desired functional ingredients in one single, efficient, homogenous premix. Each batch is carefully tested and qualified and the team of scientists, regulatory and quality professionals is well positioned to support customers with traceability, market clearance and clinical substantiation of premix ingredients.

DSM has also launched a new content paper on consumer behaviour and trends, examining the reasons for selecting products that address digestive health and how manufacturers can tailor their ranges accordingly.
