PharmaLinea highlights nutraceutical opportunities in China after HNC recognition

Healthplex Expo, Natural and Nutraceutical Products China (HNC), one of China’s leading health and nutrition trade shows, named PharmaLinea a recipient of its first Leading Enterprise for Quality & Tech Breakthrough Award at the 2026 edition in Shanghai

The recognition comes as China attracts growing attention from international nutraceutical companies seeking access to a large, increasingly health-conscious consumer base.

According to Innova Market Insights, more than 25% of Chinese supplement users increased their intake during the past year, whereas 80% buy supplements at least once a month.

China also leads Asia in new supplement launches, with a 4% CAGR during the last 5 years.

Industry events are reflecting this momentum. Alongside HNC Shanghai, the China International Import Expo (CIIE) has become an important platform for brands engaging Chinese consumers and partners, with companies such as Bayer, Haleon, Reckitt, GNC, Johnson & Johnson, and Sanofi using these events to showcase products and innovations.

PharmaLinea has seen a similar shift: its HNC participation has developed into a broader market effort, with the company now preparing to exhibit at both HNC and CIIE.

“China has become an increasingly relevant market for nutraceutical companies,” said Matevž Ambrožič, Marketing Director at PharmaLinea.

“We see growing consumer interest in nutrition and wellbeing, strong engagement at industry events, and increasing opportunities to connect with local partners.”

Recent shifts in global trade are adding to China’s relevance. At events such as Vitafoods Europe and HNC Shanghai, PharmaLinea has observed increased interest in European manufacturing as companies explore alternatives and diversify sourcing strategies.

For European manufacturers, this creates an opportunity. In China and other international markets, European production is associated with strong quality standards: the “Made in EU” label remains a valuable differentiator for brands seeking reliable, high-quality supply.

However, market entry remains challenging. Foreign brands and manufacturers must navigate complex regulatory requirements, including registrations and certifications such as GACC approval.

“It is a market that requires patience, local understanding and sustained effort,” added Ambrožič.

“Success is built over time through relationships, regulatory compliance and a willingness to invest in understanding the market.”

Against this backdrop, the HNC award reflects PharmaLinea’s growing engagement with China and reinforces its commitment to clinically supported private label food supplements for partners worldwide.
