Symrise will assist HofSeth BioCare's in scaling its salmon-based nutraceutical production capacity at the Berkak, Norway facility — meaning the two can better serve the human and animal nutrition markets

Symrise and salmon-based ingredient manufacturer HofSeth BioCare (HBC) have joined forces to provide marine nutraceuticals to the global market.

Through this partnership, Symrise will expand its presence in the health and nutrition categories, while HBC will extend its manufacturing operations and global footprint.

HBC is also planning to triple the capacity of its Berkak facility, turning it into a enzymatic hydrolysis plant that can efficiently upcycle fresh salmon offcuts into bioactive ingredients.

Together, Symrise and HBC will explore new product development opportunities, while the former will utilise its market influence to promote the latter's ingredients globally.

“HBC's investments in clinical studies demonstrate proven benefits in key categories of metabolic health, immune health, gut health and mobility — setting them apart from the crowd," commented CEO of Symrise, Dr Jean-Yves Parisot.

"Our partnership with the manufacturer aligns nicely with the recent creation of the Global Marine Platform, which endeavours to explore the vast potential of marine ingredients."

Through the partnership, HBC and Symrise aim to enhance public awareness of the health benefits marine ingredients can offer.

“Symrise have been a key partner for us already and we are very excited to move ahead," adds CEO of HofSeth BioCare, Jon Olav Odegard.

"The company will help transform our scale and market access as the human health and premium pet markets continue to flourish. We believe that Symrise can help us to sustain our growth trajectory; positioning us as one of the leading players in the science-led nutrition segment," they concluded.
