Kaneka Ubiquinol to launch mitochondrial ingredient verification platform at CIIE Shanghai

Kaneka Ubiquinol will unveil a dedicated pavilion at the China International Import Expo, introducing a mitochondrial health education platform, its Ubiquinol capsules and a third-party verification programme developed with Eurofins to support quality assurance in the Chinese nutraceutical market

Kaneka Ubiquinol will return to the China International Import Expo (CIIE), held from 5-10 November, unveiling its first dedicated standalone pavilion and introducing a new mitochondrial health education and innovation platform.

The brand will bring together global key opinion leaders (KOLs) and create opportunities for collaboration with Chinese brands, researchers and product developers, supporting the broader ambitions of Healthy China 2030.

As its population ages, China has been looking to confront the mounting public-health challenges associated with an older population, cardiovascular disease and women’s health conditions.Kaneka Ubiquinol to launch mitochondrial ingredient verification platform at CIIE Shanghai

Currently, an estimated 330 million people live with cardiovascular conditions in the country, while 310.31 million people, representing 22% of the population, were aged 60 or older at the end of 2024.

Health conditions therefore remain a major public-health challenge for China, placing growing importance on prevention, health education and innovative approaches to supporting health across the lifespan.

Kaneka said that its Ubiquinol pavilion will introduce Chinese industry audiences to the rapidly emerging 'mitoceuticals’ category, a science-led nutritional innovation focused on supporting mitochondrial function and cellular health across the lifespan, opening opportunities for Chinese nutraceutical brands, researchers and product developers.

Ubiquinol, Kaneka's bioidentical form of Ubiquinol produced via a patented natural yeast fermentation process, supports cellular energy production across all life stages and affects mechanisms associated with ageing and healthspan.

The ingredient is an active form of Coenzyme Q10 (ubiquinone), which also plays an important antioxidant role and supports energy production.

Alongside the education and innovation platform, Kaneka's pavilion will also showcase the China debut of Kaneka Ubiquinol capsules, highlighting new opportunities for ingredient applications and product innovation in the Chinese nutraceutical market.

Also debuting at the show will be the Kaneka Ubiquinol Verified Program, a third-party testing programme offered to brandholders in conjunction with Eurofins.

The firm said that independently verifying product stability and quality would strengthen trust and confidence among Chinese brandholders and consumers.

Marking the start of CIIE, Kazuki Takita, Assistant Manager, Sales & Marketing APAC, Kaneka Ubiquinol, said: “China is one of the world's most important markets for health and nutritional innovation."

Our commitment is not simply to bring an ingredient to China, but to work alongside Chinese partners to translate scientific knowledge into meaningful opportunities for product development and education.

Women's health will also be a key focus for the company, reflecting growing scientific interest in mitochondrial function in reproductive biology, cellular energy metabolism and the physiological changes associated with ageing.

Global KOL, Dietitian & Health Educator and speaker at Kaneka Ubiquinol’s pavilion, Jeannie Kwa added: “Our ambition at CIIE is to connect the science of mitochondrial function with the health questions that matter to people across different life stages for women’s health and men’s health, while creating meaningful conversations with Chinese healthcare and industry partners about future innovation."
